About the event
Forget patchwork and mending—this is upcycling, reimagined.
Join us for a high-energy workshop led by prolific upcycler Gary Mills. Known for taking the obscure and making it beautiful, Gary will show you how to turn everyday "rubbish" into stunning, modern home treasures.
This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the radical spirit of William Morris and the unseen creative resilience of women throughout history. While tradition was built on "making do," we’re taking those roots and giving them a modern, imaginative twist.
What we’re making (The "Wow" Factor):
The CD/DVD Mosaic: Break old discs to create shimmering, iridescent mosaic borders for mirrors or photo frames.
Chic Glassware: Transform wine bottles into sleek soap dispensers or baby food jars into hanging lanterns and mini terrariums.
Plastic to Greenery: Repurpose plastic bottles into stylish, functional herb planters for your kitchen.
Modern Storage: Turn simple jars into high-end bathroom storage solutions.
Why attend?
Expert Guidance: Gary Mills isn't just a crafter; he’s a master of creative transformation.
Local Radical History: Learn how the Hammersmith Arts & Crafts movement—and the women within it—supported suffrage and social justice.
Eco-Innovation: Go beyond the basics and learn how to truly innovate with what you have.
Community & Refreshments: Sip on our finest organic teas while you create.
Highlights:
High-Energy Workshop: No experience needed, just an imaginative mind.
Innovative Projects: Focus on glass, plastic, and shimmering mosaics.
Women’s History Month Hook: Connecting local legacy with modern sustainability.
